NCA wishes to engage a suitably qualified supplier to design and deliver a drone show over Lake Burley Griffin as a multi-day event, during the Australia day period in 2024.

The NCA in conjunction with the Australia Day Council, are wanting the drone show to tell Australian stories, which could include images of things that represent being and living in Australia as this connects with the Australia Day Council theme of “Reflect, Respect, Celebrate”. This could include indigenous elements. For example, Indigenous constellations.

We want the supplier to curate an event that has broad appeal to the community, that will entice and excite visitors to come and experience the show. The event needs to demonstrate the following objectives,

1. Respectfully acknowledges the significance of first nations people through programming content. The event must include a welcome to country ceremony and the program must be developed in consultation with the Ngunnawal elder’s council. (This is an opportunity to educate the community with indigenous knowledge, ensuring traditions of first nations people get shared with all Australians.)

2. Attract a large and diverse local audience, including people from indigenous and international cultures,

3. The drone show must make good use of the lake and be delivered in a way that encourages visitors to experience the drone show from a number of vantage points, this ensures the event can provide good visitor accessibility whilst giving visitors a positive experience.

4. Tell Australian stories, which could include images of things that represent being and living in Australia as this connects with the Australia Day Council theme of “Reflect, Respect, Celebrate”. This could include indigenous elements. For example, Indigenous constellations.

5. We want the supplier to curate an event that has broad appeal to the community, that will entice and excite visitors to come and experience the show.

6. The event program must be befitting to a large and diverse local audience, including people from indigenous and international cultures,

7. The drone show must be delivered in line with any relevant rules and regulations that apply to using drones in a public performance.

8. A music soundtrack should accompany the curated program and align to the content.
