Group Training - Apprenticeship Initiative

The Tasmanian Building and Construction Industry Training Board and Housing Tasmania are working in partnership to facilitate the creation of 10 new apprenticeship opportunities in Tasmania. As part of the Affordable Housing Strategy, this initiative is calling for a group training provider to manage and coordinate the employment of the apprentices. The successful organisation will be provided with funding to coordinate the apprentices and subsidise the wages as an incentive for the building and construction industry to employ the apprentices on Housing Tasmania construction sites. Group training organisations will be required to deliver a statewide response and be able to support the training and employment of apprentices across a range of trades and skill mixes. This initiative aims to increase the capacity of the building and construction industry workforce into the future and support the construction of new affordable housing options for low income Tasmanians. Information sessions will be held throughout the State for interested organisations and community members who require more information.
