Mobile Data Terminals(MDTs), Associated Equipment & Services

Expressions of interest are sought for the provision of up to 1,100 MDTs, a Network Interface, associated hardware and software, interfaces with other systems, and related installation, warranty, maintenance and support services. Initial implementation is planned for mid 2001. The equipment is intended for use with the new SA Government Radio Network (SA-GRN). Some of the MDTs will need to operate using the Motorola Private RDLap™ DataTAC 2™ protocol while others will utilise low speed data facilities of the SA-GRN Voice Sub-Network which uses Motorola SmartZone™ technology. The Network Interface will facilitate connection of existing and future Computer Aided Despatch systems to the SA-GRN and existing SAPOL data network, to enable communication between the CAD systems and the MDTs.
