The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is inviting offers for the supply of consultant services to facilitate the Review of the Hardwood Plantation Program.The objectives of the Review of the Hardwood Plantation Program are as follows:

The purpose of the review is to identify the potential contribution that the current hardwood plantation estate and the further committed hardwood plantations could make to the Queensland processing sector.

A key element of the project will be to ensure that there is a common understanding of the potential contribution between all interested parties, including growers, processors and the government.

The outcome will allow both industry and government to better determine investment needs in relation to further investment in plantation establishment, product and market development, processing technology, and research and development that may be required to underpin the future.

There are four elements to the review:

• What is the volume, nature and timing of the expected plantation resource?
• What products can be produced from the resource and what are the markets for these products?
• What are the most feasible future industry scenarios involving uptake of the plantation resource?
• What are the resource, market and industry risks that could compromise the programs contribution the sector?
