Description
Depending on eligibility, and individual client needs, the Department’s Program delivers support services to:
•provide for their, care and welfare needs of UHMs in line with custodianship requirements under the Immigration Guardianship of Children Act1946 (IGOC Act) including:
- case management tailored to individual needs;
- provision of accommodation;
- provision of food, clothing and other basic items fundamental to a child’s welfare;
- facilitating access to education and relevant community services; and
- facilitating likes to social, cultural and religious networks;
•build self-agency and resilience and provide age appropriate guidance and positive role modelling;
•enable successful settlement and a positive foundation for life in Australia through orientation to Australia and the development of life skills; and
•facilitate transition to independence and adult life.
