Queensland Rail Limited
QRP-18-176 Dakabin Station Accessibility Upgrade
Details
Description
Queensland Rail is committed to connecting communities through a modern, world-class rail service by providing a safe, reliable, on-time, value for money and customer focused rail service that benefits the community, supports industry and is integrated with the public transport system. There are 152 railway stations in the SEQ city network. A rolling program of station accessibility upgrades is focused on removing barriers, so customers can independently access rail services along the Primary Path of Travel (PPT) without using stairs, steep ramps or rail crossings. The PPT is defined as:
An identified singular pathway from specific station entries through the station that incorporates access to ticketing facilities, Designated Accessible Parking Bays (DAPB), boarding point, Unisex Accessible Toilet (USAT), cross corridor and to the train.
Dakabin Station is on the Caboolture Line. The station is currently unattended, and as such there is no ticket office, station building or train crew/customer amenities available at the station. SACIDs and Ticket Machines (AVVM) located on both platforms are the only self-serve facilities for customers at present. The station has two side platforms with an over pass bridge located towards the southern end of the platforms. Access to Dakabin station is via Narangba Road and Thompson Road. The station is bounded by Pine Rivers Golf Course and Bob Brock Park to the west and south, Dakabin State High School located 1.5 km to the east and open space to the north where the Alma Park Zoo was previously located. This area is designated for new residential development which is nearing completion. Carparks are situated on both sides of the station, with a total of 168 car park spaces and 8 motorbike spaces. Dakabin Station services approximately 392,000 customers each year, with many Dakabin State High School students utilising the station.
In December 2018, Queensland Rail introduced a Contractor Safety and Environment Management (CSEM) Process to develop and deliver a best practice Contractor Safety Management Process for Queensland Rail to combat the spike in the number of high potential incidents involving contractors. The Dakabin Station Accessibility Upgrade works and subsequent contractors are required to comply with this new process. Refer to the attached Pre-Qualification Process and the webpage below for further information on the CSEM Program:
