SA Department of the Premier and Cabinet
Supply, Installation and Commissioning of a Real Time PCR Instrument and Supply of Quantitation Reagents
Details
Description
Suppliers must nominate suitable reagents that will be supported for use on the nominated instrument.
Real Time PCR will be used to quantitate the amount of DNA recovered from crime scene samples. The current technique is not sensitive enough to detect very low amounts of DNA. In the last few years a new sample type, contact or trace DNA has been identified as a potential source of evidentiary material. However, many of these samples have insufficient DNA for analysis. The sensitivity of Real Time PCR will allow the laboratory to identify such samples prior to profiling, thereby increasing laboratory efficiencies.
