For the Provision of Microsoft SharePoint 2010 EDRMS Compliance Plug-in

The CER's ICT Business Platform is comprised of a managed infrastructure hosting service and a Microsoft application stack.It is configured to provide business functionality and services to the agency.

Base platform capability was put in place in the 2011 calendar year. Now, a highly compliant EDRMS capability is to be put in place this calendar year – extending the Business Platform Environment as originally intended.

SharePoint 2010, augmented with plug ins to address known weaknesses in meeting the National Archives best practice standards for records management, was chosen as the Compliant Information Management Platform as part of the Business Platform program of work.

In developing the Business Case for the Business Platforms the authors drew on an independent analysis of Microsoft SharePoint 2010 by Wise Technology, Microsoft and National Archives of Australia against best practices standards in information management.This study found that compliance was substantially met, with gaps associated with Hybrid Records (physical and electronic), physical records, complex security classifications and email.All of these gaps were able to be addressed through third party plug ins for SharePoint.

The Agency now seeks a plug in enhancement to Sharepoint 2010 to address records management compliance requirements under the National Archives Act.
