Chiller Plant Cooling Capacity Upgrade
Details
Description
As part of the Australian Synchrotron’s BRIGHT programme seven new beamlines will be installed in the facility. This will increase the cooling load on the central plant systems. Due to the critical nature of the facility, it is required that one chiller is always available to provide redundancy to meet cooling demand in the event of equipment failure or isolation of equipment during maintenance procedures.
It is expected with the planned future works, an additional cooling load will be added to the central chilled water plant. The central plant in its current state is unable to meet the future cooling load with the required redundancy if no measures are undertaken. To address this cooling demand major chiller plant upgrades have been proposed.
