Description

The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is responsible for protective security to Parliament House and its occupants. As part of its security strategy, DPS has screening equipment in place at all entrances to the buidling to scan the following items:

  1. hand luggage and suitcases (Standard Screening Machines);
  2. large parcels and bulky items (Large Mail Screening Machine); and
  3. palletised items (Cargo Screening Machine).

While the current equipment is x-ray technology, Tenderers may propose alternative technology that is effective in screening items of mass dimensions. Some examples of alternate technology may include magnetic resonance imaging, millimetre wave technology or quadrupole resonance.

A tender briefing and site inspection will be held at Parliament House at 2pm 19 July 2007. For further information, refer to clause 7.1 and Appendix A of the RFT.
