Description
This project focusses on upgrading unsealed road sections in accordance with the Kangaroo Island Council’s Asset Management Plan( Roads) and the Renewal of Unsealed Roads Program, a venture between Council and DPTI.
It also includes project works at the junction of Playford Highway and Hog Bay Road( RN 4880 & RN 4883) to DPTI Specification. This work is listed as DPTI project # 64822.
The 2014/2015 stage 4 works include an upgrade of the following roads( or parts thereof):
- Cape Willoughby Road, from the end of existing seal prior to the Ian Road junction, to the intersection of Willson River Road- a length of ( est) 9.806 km
- Willson River Road, from the junction with Cape Willoughby Road to the intersection of East West Road- a length of 11.749 km
- Harriet Road, starting from South Coast Road to East West Highway Two, further to East West Highway One, and dependant on available funding allocation, to extend to Playford Highway- a total distance of 21.410 km.
- Playford Highway/Hog Bay Road Intersection shoulder extension- excavation and extension of current shoulders, and preparation of granular pavement, to specification to enable sealing. Includes unsealed road shoulders on approach to the junction.
