Adelaide 500 - Security Services

The Adelaide 500 is a four-day event staged by the SA Motor Sport (SAMS) on Adelaide’s world-renowned street circuit and surrounding parklands in the heart of the CBD. The event is South Australia’s largest annual ticketed sporting event providing a vibrant mix of motorsport and other off-track attractions appealing to a diverse audience.

The Event precinct is a temporary street circuit located within a defined, fully fenced area in the East Parklands of the City of Adelaide.

The preferred supplier is required to provide appropriately trained, licensed and experienced, professional security personnel for the entire event period including pre-event, event and post event.

Security Services for the Adelaide 500 operate under the provisions of the South Australian Motor Sport Act 1984, which gives specific and specialised powers to security guards. Stringent requirements of the SA Police and the Liquor Licensing Enforcement Branch must also be met. The Declared Area is issued with a Limited Liquor Licence and operates under the Liquor Licence Act.

The scope of work for the Security Services contract for the Adelaide 500 has remained largely consistent since the inception of the event in 1999 with an estimated 280-310 positions required each day for the four-days of the event, plus pre and post event asset protection. Event days include the provision of security services across a range of activities i.e. asset protection, gates, patron behaviour and access management, liquor licensing, concert crowd control.

The detailed specification and requirements will include but not be limited to the below points, with a full scope of requirements to be documented in Part B – ITS – Specification;

• Provision of trained, licensed security guards and supervisor for the Adelaide 500 event including but not limited to numbers, rostered times and endorsements.
• Provision of security personnel who hold a Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Liquor Licensing Act 1997 and the Liquor Licensing (General) Regulations 2012
• Provision of all equipment including but not limited to management systems, transportation, communication, site facilities and staff uniforms required to successfully fulfill the event requirements

The Security Services procurement will be split in to two categories with a preferred supplier to provide experienced professional security services for either or both categories:

• Category 1: General Event – pre-event/ build period, event period (entry gates, grandstands, asset protection, patron behavior and access management, corporate facilities, liquor licensing) and post-event / dismantle period
• Category 2: Concert Security – Pre-event, event and post-event concert compound security, front of house mixing tower, stage pit (between crowd barrier and stage) only including asset protection, access, patron behavior management and enforcement of liquor licence. This will be a shorter overall schedule than Category 1 – General Event.
