Mid-west fishery-independent line surveys for the West Coast Demersal Scalefish Resource
Details
Description
The Aquatic Sciences and Assessment Branch of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is seeking commercial fishing vessels and crew to complete fishery-independent line fishing surveys in the Mid-west management area of the West Coast Bioregion.
Surveys, involving dropline fishing at pre-determined sites and opportunistic handlining, will be undertaken for 3 seasons in total during the 2024-25 financial year, with a potential for 1 additional survey in August 2025.
In each season, the survey requires 9 line fishing days, split into 3 days out of Jurien, 3 days out of Dongara and 3 days out of Geraldton. Fishers may either apply for just one area (3 fishing days), or multiple areas.
Fishing vessels must be able to accommodate two additional DPIRD research staff onboard during surveys to collect data and measure catches.
The Customer seeks a panel of one or more Contractors for each of the following areas:
- Geraldton;
- Dongara; and
- Jurien Bay.
