PV Walcott Satellite Communications

The Department of Fisheries require an upgrade/replacement of their aging satellite “Fleet Broadband 55” system.

The scope of the Request includes:
• Hardware equipment, installation of hardware, software configuration and support if applicable, and hardware maintenance;
• Satellite air time and support Service Level Agreement; and
• Training of approximately five (5) DoF employees to be delivered on site at Fremantle (high level equipment user training).

The DoF current system’s bandwidth speeds and the range have fallen short of expectations, while the data costs have been grossly disproportionate to the level of service outcomes. Respondents to this Request should, where possible, reference vessels that are currently using their marine satellite broadband services. This would be useful in managing DoF’s expectation and risk.

It should be noted that the evaluation process may result in awarding part or all of the above products and service (i.e. only hardware or both hardware and air time).

There is a critical period in the month of January 2012 in which the PV Walcott is in dock in Perth for maintenance. The successful Respondent will be required to perform and complete hardware installation, commissioning and training within this time period i.e. between 3rd January and by no later than 31st January.
