Provision of Cementing Services

The Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA), a division of the Department of Mines and Petroleum, has undertaken to drill a stratigraphic well named GSWA Harvey-1 into the southern Perth basin in the Shire of Harvey region. The primary objective for this well is to determine the carbon dioxide storage potential of targeted subsurface geological strata for industry active in the surrounding area as a key phase of the Collie Hub project. There are also a number of secondary objectives for this well including evaluating the potential for geothermal energy and petroleum resources in this area.
The Collie Hub project has been established to examine the potential for carbon capture and storage in the south west region of Western Australia. Preliminary studies have identified a potentially suitable formation for carbon dioxide storage called the Lesueur formation beneath a surface location north of the Kemerton industrial area. Based on the information available and assessed to date, this prospective formation has been identified as the highest potential location for carbon dioxide storage in the south west region.
Drilling the GSWA Harvey-1 stratigraphic well will provide for core samples of the prospective Lesueur formation to be obtained in this area in conjunction with running several electric line deployed data acquisition tools. All of this data will subsequently be processed and analysed to further evaluate the viability of the Lesueur formation for carbon dioxide storage on a commercial scale.
This Request for Tender (RFT) process is being undertaken to procure the necessary cementing equipment and services to drill and evaluate the GSWA Harvey-1 stratigraphic well.
