Description

Information technology and electronic data are increasingly important to the efficient and effective operation of freight supply chains and meeting Australia’s growing freight task more safely and efficiently. The purpose of the proposed Freight Consignment Information System Use in Australia procurement is to compile an information base about freight consignment systems currently in use across a range of different freight supply chain sectors in Australia. The information sought includes details of existing data standards and data exchange protocols, the extent to which data is currently exchanged electronically between supply chain partners and the importance of real-time data exchange to supply chain participants across different industry supply chains. The compilation of this information will provide for the first time an overview of freight consignment information system use across Australian freight supply chains.
