Australian Holiday Travel Survey

Tourism Tasmania conducts a range of research measuring travel behaviour of interstate and international visitors. Some survey work is undertaken directly by the Authority, while other survey work is purchased from commercial providers. An important element of the current program is the continuous travel tracking research purchased commercially which provides information relating to holiday and travel advertising awareness, holiday destination preference, intention to travel, holiday behaviour, information andbookings in the domestic market for Tasmania. While such information has been provided to Tourism Tasmania for a number of years by an existing commercial provider, the Authority is seeking to test the market for the ongoing supply of this information. The outcome of the tender process will ultimately be a three-year agreement for the supply of the information. Furthermore, Tourism Tasmania has the option, entirely at its discretion, to exercise three possible one year extensions to the term of the Agreement. The research must be a part of an ongoing tracking survey that provides flexibility and linkages to media analysis, segmentation by geography, lifestage, psychographics, life aspirations, consumer attitudes, spending patterns, and a competitive framework. Also, regular re-profiling of consumers, Tasmanian consumer opportunities, and existing partnerships is required across other consumer sectors to allow Tourism Tasmania to pursue and/or enhance its marketing opportunities. Outputs of the research must not result in a break in time series from the current data, related information and knowledge, or that produced throughout the term of the contract. Data compatibility with key strategic research providers to Tourism Tasmania is mandatory. As a new research provider could be chosen from this process, a methodology to integrate future data with past data for use with specific forecasting and analytical tools, must be provided by each respondent. Information in the tender should consider the above requirements together with the requirements contained in the Request for Tender.
