Grounds and Horticultural Maintenance Services

The Australian War Memorial (‘the Memorial’) is issuing this RFT to identify the Tenderer or Tenderers best qualified for the provision of Grounds and Horticultural Maintenance Services (‘Requirement’).

In summary, the Memorial is seeking the provision of services to maintain the grounds and horticultural environment at the Memorial’s Campbell and Mitchell precincts.

The grounds and gardens within the Memorial’s high profile Campbell site are conserved and developed as a national memorial to Australians who served and died in war. The Commemorative courtyard, the Sculpture Garden, Captain Reg Saunders Courtyard, and the various memorials across the Campbell site provide a dignified and attractive focus for commemoration.

The grounds on the Memorial’s Mitchell site surround several buildings including The Treloar Technology Centre—the Memorial’s conservation facility and storage hub. The Treloar Technology Centre stores a vast array of aircraft, rockets, vehicles, tanks, artillery, and equipment used by, or against, Australians in war for over a century.

Tenderers can choose to submit tenders for either or both of two packages of services and must nominate whichever of the following options they are offering:

(a) Option A—Provision of Grounds Maintenance; or

(b) Option B—Provision of Horticultural Maintenance; or

(c) Option C—Provision of Grounds and Horticultural Maintenance.

Tenderers will be ranked in order of preference based on the selection criteria specified in clause 3.1 of Schedule 2 of this RFT. The ranking process may involve interviews with Tenderers.

The Grounds Maintenance services include the following at Campbell:

(a) grass maintenance;

(b) general grounds maintenance/cleaning; and

(c) watering and irrigation maintenance.

The Grounds Maintenance services also include the following at the Memorial’s Mitchell warehouses (Treloar A, B, C, D and E):

(a) weeding, rubbish and excess plant matter pickup, blower vacuuming;

(b) mowing and edging; and

(c) weed spraying.

Horticultural Maintenance services include at Campbell:

(a) horticultural (garden bed and small tree) maintenance; and

(b) watering and irrigation maintenance.
