Australian Government Department of Defence
Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) Reference Sample Storage Repository Services
Details
Description
To provide Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) Reference Sample Storage Repository Services.
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) has had a DNA reference sample storage repository service for volunteer ADF members since 2008. This repository serves as an adjunct to more traditional methods of identifying human remains in the event that identification of deceased remains is difficult by other means.
The ADF repository currently stores approximately 1100 samples. It is anticipated that this repository may be required to store up to 20 000 samples in its mature state.
The ADF requires a DNA reference sample repository service to receive, store and produce or destroy de-identified DNA reference samples.
The DNA sample will be transported by Defence under Defence arrangements to the DNA reference sample repository.
The DNA sample will not be required to be profiled or sequenced by the Contractor.
