The Department of Education is seeking to expand the provision of pastoral care to students in Western Australian public schools through refreshing this panel arrangement for the provision of chaplain and/or student wellbeing officer services, under the School Chaplaincy and Student Wellbeing Officer Program.

The Department of Education has identified service gaps for the delivery of the these services, particularly in regional and remote locations.

Pastoral care is the practice of looking after the personal needs of students, not just their academic needs, through general support and advice. Schools’ pastoral care programs include a range of services and strategies that supports the enhanced wellbeing of students.

The School Chaplaincy and Student Wellbeing Officer Program plays a key role in supporting public schools’ pastoral care provisions. School chaplains and/or student wellbeing officers establish and build relationships as a member of the school's pastoral care team and support the delivery of student wellbeing services.
