SA Department for Child Protection
P354 - Child Survey Tool
Details
Description
The Department for Child Protection (DCP) has responsibility to provide services for children and young people who are at risk of neglect or harm, and have been removed from their family home. This is a statutory requirement under the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017, and the Family and Community Services Act 1972, to promote individual, family and community welfare.
The Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017 s10(b) requires that:
‘if a child or young person is able to form their own views on a matter concerning their care, the child or young person should be given an opportunity to express those views freely and those views are to be given due weight in the operation of this Act in accordance with the developmental capacity of the child or young person and the circumstances.’
The Department for Child Protection (DCP) seeks to purchase and implement a Customisable-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) child survey tool solution to enable surveying and capturing the views of children and young people.
