11498 - Mosquito Control Services

The City of Salisbury is looking to engage a contractor for mosquito control throughout the Council area.

The service provider shall be responsible for the following objectives of the City of Salisbury’s Mosquito Control Program:

1. To monitor identified mosquito breeding habitats within the City of Salisbury’s high mosquito risk areas.
2. To treat identified mosquito breeding habitats with approved larvicides so as to minimise and control the impact on public health from mosquitoes, whilst minimising the impact on the environment.
3. To provide adhoc mosquito treatment and control by monitoring any newly identified breeding habitats and undertaking treatment to control breeding as approved by the City of Salisbury authorised representative.
4. To provide recommendations for any physical modifications of water ways, wetlands and storm water catchments that may be considered to eliminate mosquito breeding areas.

The mosquito control program will primarily involve regular mosquito control in public sites located in high mosquito risk areas, including:

• Globe Derby Park and
• St Kilda township and surrounding environments as identified,
• Greenfields,
• Parafield Gardens, and
• Mawson Lakes

Adhoc surveillance and treatment can also be requested and implemented at potential breeding sites located in the following suburbs:

• Bolivar,
• Mawson Lakes,
• Cavan,
• Dry Creek,
• Pooraka

Occasional monitoring on adjacent crown lands in proximity of Globe Derby Park, Bolivar, and St Kilda sites may also be required.
