Development of a Sport and Recreation Venues Strategy and Master Planning

The Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing (the department) has a requirement to continually raise the quality and quantity of services provided at SRS Venues to meet its objective of increasing participation in sport and recreation. Development of a Venues’ Strategy (VS) is required to drive key strategic outcomes for Sport and Recreation Services (SRS) to provide clear direction on the future role, function and investment preference for the department and its Venues:

1. Gold Coast Recreation Centre (GCRC)

• Vison - For the QRec Centres (Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast) to be the premier recreation centres in Australia – provide well maintained, sustainable, safe and accessible venues.

2. Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre (SCRC)

• Vision: For the QRec Centres (Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast) to be the premier recreation centres in Australia – provide well maintained, sustainable, safe and accessible venues.

3. Toowoomba Sports Ground (TSG)

• Vision: To be a premier boutique sport, recreation and events venue in south west Queensland.

4. Townsville Sport and Recreation Precinct (TSRP)

• Vision: To be North Queensland’s premier multi-purpose sport and recreation facility in North Queensland.

5. Sports House Milton (SHM)

• Vision: To provide functional, fit-for-purpose and well maintained sports house which support the sport and recreation industry.
