Australian Government Department of Finance
Secure Communications Platform
Details
Description
In 2004, the Commonwealth Government directed all Financial Management and Accountability (FMA) agencies to protect their data transmissions by using fit for purpose protection systems and Dissemination Limiting Markers (DLM) for classification of online email communications.
There are approximately 105 agencies that currently rely on an existing service, FedLink, to secure their communications. The Department of Finance is looking to ensure this capability is maintained and developed into the future.
The Commonwealth is seeking an innovative solution that will need to include sufficient security controls to enable the platform to safely and securely transmit data across the public internet up to PROTECTED in accordance with the accreditation requirements described in the Australian Government Information Security Manual.
The proposed solution would need to align with the requirements of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) regarding Dissemination Limiting Markers (DLM).
The Commonwealth requests that respondents submit innovative solutions which should include a high level architectural structure, implementation considerations, resourcing requirements and indicative costing.
