Odour Detection Dog Kennelling
Details
Description
The National Red Imported Fire Ant Eradication Program (the Program) uses odour detection dogs (ODD) to assist with high sensitivity surveillance around the greater Brisbane area and is a major tool in providing evidence of Red Imported Fire Ant (RIFA) eradication.
Utilising ODD for the purposes required by the Program is outlined in the most up to date policy documents, the current Work Plan and the Ten-Year Plan. ODD work typically relates to confirming the absence of RIFA following treatment of isolated infestations and assisting in targeted surveillance as a part of the staged clearing process.
The Program requires a long-term accommodation and care solution for the working dogs outside of operational hours to support the ongoing work of the ODD teams.
The objectives of the procurement are:
- To source a local, capable and legislatively compliant supplier to fulfil the business requirement
- To source a predictable, safe and reliable accommodation facility for all Program dogs will support their welfare and performance
- To achieve a fit for purpose business solution and value for money outcome for the Program. The Program requires a long-term kennelling service to accommodate seven (7) RIFA ODD. As the number of ODD is reviewed regularly, it is desirable for the Supplier to have the capacity and capability to accommodate up to ten (10) dogs upon the Program’s request.
The Program is seeking competitive offers for the provision of the kennelling services for an initial 12 months with 2 x 12-month extension options.
The complete contract requirements are specified in Schedule 1 of the attached ‘Contract Details’.
