The Geraldton Port Authority (GPA) seeking experienced and competent personnel that will be able to participate in a symposium / workshop whose aim will be to review and assess the long wave problem with a view to being able to ameliorate the incidence of long waves and / or improve the ability of moored ships to withstand their impact.
The GPA has undertaken a number of studies dating back to 2000 where long waves, swell waves and ship movements have been measured and hydro dynamically modelled with a view to ameliorating the problem, improving berth safety and increasing berth availability.
There will be two categories of participants, those who are requested to present papers suggesting potential solutions and those with special expertise in long wave propogation, analysis or mitigation.
The Symposium is expected to be held over three days in Geraldton in late May 2014.
