Description

The scope of works includes, but not limited to;

  • Gravel Production from within Karijini National Park
  • Earthworks and construction of drainage including rock armouring of road side drains.
  • Innovative methods to maximise reuse of existing road surface materials and reduce environmental impact e.g. surface mining methodology or similar alternatives are required;
  • Weano Road and Banjima Drive will involve cement stabilisation of floodways;
  • Large portions of the road construction are proposed to be carried out with a surface miner or similar alternative;
  • Construction of the gravel basecourse pavement layer;
  • Construction of a two-coat bitumen emulsion seal;
  • Installation of painted pavement marking;
  • Supply and installation of steel wheel stops and steel bollards;
  • Supply and installation of road signs;
  • Construction of the cement stabilised gravel footpaths and standard compacted gravel footpaths;
  • Rehabilitation of lands impacted by the works, i.e. turn arounds and gravel pits etc
  1. Weano Road from Banjima Drive North to the car park at Weano Gorge including Sealing of part of the Karijini Eco Retreat driveway
  2. Banjima Drive North from the Karijini Visitor Centre to Joffre Road
  3. Knox Road from Joffre Falls turn off to Knox Gorge car park
  4. Kalamina Road from Banjima Drive North to the car park at Kalamina Gorge
  5. Weano Gorge car park
  6. Fortescue Falls car park
  7. Kalamina Gorge car park
  8. Knox Gorge car park
  9. Joffre Gorge car park
  10. Dales Road widening of sections of shoulder and resealing sections
  11. Resealing sections of car park at the Karijini Visitor Centre
  12. Resealing sections of Banjima Road East

Modern technologies and methodologies are sought to create reusable road base materials out of existing rocky road surfaces, thereby reducing the need to source road base materials from the gravel pits located within Karijini. Karijini is a high profile National Park and dust and vibration mitigation is an important issue within the park. Contractors should address this issue in their tender submission.
