Description

The Tasmanian Government implemented a strategy in 1996 to encourage the development of service industries driven by the evolution in changing telecommunications technology. Operations such as contact centres were considered a major target of this strategy. Tasmania has placed a high priority on developing and implementing this strategy to attract the world's best contact centres to the State. Considerable progress has now been made and Tasmania is considered a preferred location by many of Australia's leading Contact Centre operators. A number of key objectives were envisaged when the initial strategy was first launched. The Review is to provide Industry Intelligence and recommendations in a comprehensive report to the Department regarding the Contact Centre Industry within Tasmania. It is expected that the finding of this audit will assist the Department of Economic Development in planning strategies and activities as part of its future role in providing facilitation assistance and support to the Tasmanian Contact Centre Industry.
