Planning SA is seeking suitably qualified consultants, experienced in town planning and in working with indigenous communities in South Australia, to submit proposals for the preparation of one or both Community Structure Plans for two communities situated on Aboriginal Lands Trust leasehold land on the River Murray at Gerard and Raukkan.
Structure planning is a priority for Aboriginal communities. Integrated planning and development of the built environment of Aboriginal communities is seen as the foundation of Aboriginal ownership for broader social and economic development.
The Structure Plans are to be developed in consultation with the local communities and relevant stakeholders to provide a framework to assist the communities in making decisions about land use planning matters over a 5-10 year timeframe.
The Structure Plans are required to be completed by 30 December 2008.
