Description
The sixteenth national Census of Population and Housing will be held in August 2011 and an essential segment of the Census is the printing and production of a variety of administrative type forms to be used by the Census Collectors.
The Census collects information relating to each person and household in the country. The statistics collected are used to provide information about the Australian community as a whole and groups within the community.
For the 2011 Census the ABS will require a large volume of mainly printed materials (approximately 1,800 tonnes) to be packed into purpose designed and built cardboard boxes and then delivered to, and returned from various locations spread throughout Australia. For this contract all materials will be delivered to the Central Packing Centre (CPC) in Canberra.
The printing and production of the Privacy and Mailback Envelopes must be completed in time for the packing and distribution of materials to Census Field staff. The successful contractor will need to work closely with the project manager for the packing operation (non-ABS) and the ABS project manager to ensure timetables are met.
There are 2 different envelopes that will be used to assist the Collector in the enumeration of their workload. Both items require large quantities to be printed.
i. Privacy Envelope
ii. Mailback Envelope
ABS officers may need access to the printing site on a regular basis prior to and during all production runs. As part of the tender evaluation the ABS project manager and Security Advisor may be required to undertake a security check of all sights used to print, produce and store the printed items.
