Rottnest Island Defence Heritage - Oliver Hill Engine Room Museum Detailed Design, Documentation and Coordination of Works

Tenders are invited by the Rottnest Island Authority, referred to in the Contract as “the Principal”, for a suitability qualified Contractor to develop a Detailed Design, Documentation and Coordination of Works for the refurbishment of the Oliver Hill Engine Room.

The requirement is to deliver Detailed Design, Documentation and Coordination of Works for the Oliver Hill Engine Room Museum space, based on the Rottnest Island Oliver Hill Engine Room Museum Interpretation Plan and Concept Design, including:

• refurbishment interior exhibition fit out of the Engine room space including the exhaust room with potential reinstatement of working exhaust;
• exhibition layout;
• construction;
• curation of content for all exhibition and display elements including copyright permissions as required;
• directional and entry signage; exhibition signage;
• new cabinetry, interactive cabinetry and exhibition specific joinery;
• exhibition security system/s;
• exhibition specific services such as ‘museum grade’ lighting, communications; electrical points as required;
• exhibition audio installation and curation;
• exhibition graphics, signage and text; graphic design;
• exhibition hanging systems;
• seating;
• interior floor finishes;
• interactive displays;
• multimedia/digital/audio infrastructure, both hardware and software, and content;
• curation and removal of objects as required;
• specialist design services as required;
• engineering services as required;
• design displays for easy maintenance, appropriate for high humidity conditions, harsh coastal environment and heavy visitor foot traffic; and
• design to maximise accessibility around exhibits and plan the flow of visitation for both tour groups visits and individuals on self-guided tours.
