Description
The Koori Maternity Services (KMS) program is one strategy to improve the health outcomes of Aboriginal mothers and babies. Maternity care that is based in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations aims to increase participation in antenatal care, facilitate the relationship of women with the birth hospital and thereby contribute to early identification of risk factors and reduction in the numbers of low birth weight babies.
The Department of Health is seeking suitably qualified and experienced parties to conduct an evaluation of the KMSprogram.
The planned evaluation of the KMS program is to determine the extent to which the current KMS models address the intended outcomes and to identify the features of effective maternity services to Aboriginal women thus informing the future directions of KMS.
