Description

Forces Command (FORCOMD) is the overarching formation that commands the majority of Australian Army units and has a pool of qualified deployable Army medical personnel that provide medical support to training and operational activities. Army medical staff manning is prioritised to support brigade activities, operational requirements and to meet Chief of Army Preparedness tasks. Regularly there are medical support requirements for the training units that need to be filled by outsourced service provider solutions due to the prioritisation of deployable Army medical personnel for other tasks. There are also other smaller activities conducted by the brigade units that require civil contractor support. This is a reoccurring requirement during busy training periods. The objective of contracting medical support is to ensure that an appropriate standard of health support is provided in support of Forces Command training activities. Directed health support levels vary but are all linked to the provision of suitably trained, qualified and equipped medical staff capable of providing an initial medical response that preserves life, minimises effect of injury and promotes positive health outcomes.
