Environmental Planning and Approvals Support

The Environmental Planning & Approvals team within the Environmental Services Branch is currently responsible for the finalisation and implementation of environmental approvals under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) and the WA Environmental Protection Act 1986 (EP Act) associated with several METRONET projects including Byford Rail Extension, Thornlie Cockburn Link, Yanchep Rail Extension and Morley Ellenbrook Line. In addition, the Environmental Planning and Approvals team provides support during planning and concept design phases for: Future rail and mid-tier infrastructure Bus Depots and infrastructure Ferry infrastructure.Upgrades to existing rail, bus and ferry infrastructure. The PTA seeks the provision of Services, including (but not limited to): Preparation, amendment and finalisation of environmental offset strategies, plans and agreements for existing METRONET projects.Assistance with appraisal and assessment of PTA projects in line with the Environmental Project Workflow. Preparation or support of; applications for environmental approvals and management of the approvals process to final completion.Liaison with PTA project managers and operational staff, design consultants, local government authorities, government agencies, environmental and Aboriginal heritage consultants and community / special interest groups to obtain environmental approvals and facilitate environmental outcomes.Preparation or support of environmental impact assessments or desktop assessments and management of the environmental approvals process to final completion.General advice on environmental legislation, policies and guidelines as required. Technical environmental surveys, studies and assessments.
