SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL SERVICES IN TRELOAR A

The Memorial's collection storage and conservation facilities are at Mitchell ACT and are referred to as the Treloar Complex. The 'Treloar A' building, situated on Block 1A Section 20 Mitchell, is a unique building, purpose designed for the requirements of the conservation and storage needs of the Memorial collection. The building was designed by Enrico Taglietti and opened in 1978. The Treloar A facility is served by an air conditioning system which is nearing the end of its economical and serviceable life and requires an upgrade of its central plant, air handling and controls system.

The building can be classified into three main areas; the warehouse area; the collections area (including conservation, storage and laboratories); and administration area. The project works focus on upgrade to the air conditioning systems serving the collections and administration areas, and staged decommissioning of the existing system to ensure the building remains operational for the duration of the works. Works to the warehouse area consists mainly of decommissioning and demolition works.

Key issues for the project include the provision of an internal environment suitable for the storage of collections, sustainability, safety, reliability, and flexibility to achieve appropriate and responsible implementation of the design intent.

The Memorial seeks a Builder or Construction Manager who will engage all required sub-contractors and supervise the project site and construction work. The Builder or Construction Manager will ensure the requirments of the construction contract are delivered strictly in accordance with the specification including all builders work, electrical works, hydraulic and fire services works as specified herein and in all supporting documentation.
