Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) Subscription

The exemption identified and justified under section 2 is sought for the Procurement of the annual corporate subscription of Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Viewpoint . The procurement of the annual subscription to EIU Viewpoint is important to JTSI as the agency requires access to current and detailed market and country information. This information is required to inform decision-making and is used for Ministerial briefing notes, Mission pack information and market research. Since at least 2017, the Department has subscribed to market and country information from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), a sister company to The Economist Group. The information is accessed through EIU's Viewpoint platform. The database provides comprehensive profiles and market updates for 198 countries, and industry reporting. The Economist is considered an authoritative source that provides data, forecasting, commentary, and detailed country-specific briefing reports that can be relied on for accuracy and consistency. The subscription is paid for from the Knowledge and Information Management budget. Market research has been undertaken to try and identify other companies that deliver the same service. However no equivalent service is available as other suppliers are not comparable and would not service JTSl's needs and demands.
