Three Capes Track - Public Huts - Prefabrication and/or Site Assembly of Hut Buildings

The Three Capes Track will be a world class, multi-day walking experience, featuring hut accommodation and a boat-based element, along a track up to 82 km in length, showcasing Cape Raoul, Cape Pillar and Cape Hauy as well as the stunning natural features and scenery of the Tasman Peninsula, including dolerite cliffs and ocean views. Huts will be located at up to three sites on the Denmans Cove (opposite Port Arthur), Cape Pillar, Cape Hauy to Fortescue Bay track sections. Each hut site will accommodate up to 48 walkers and staff. At each hut site there will be separate buildings for sleeping, a building for preparing food, dining and social activities, a rangers hut, and toilets. Businesses will have the opportunity to tender for all or a combination of buildings, and one or both of the two construction stages. Stage one involves off site prefabrication, disassembly and packing for road and helicopter transport, and transport by road to a depot near Fortescue Bay. Stage two involves site assembly and site works. A Hobart based team has designed the buildings, and a prototype building has been constructed to refine the design and test the construction methods and logistics. Practical completion of the huts on site is to be by 1 October 2015.
