Description
The Resources Safety Division (RSD) of the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) presently coordinates the examination of candidates seeking Certificates of Competency under the Mine Safety and Inspection Act 1994 (the Act) and Mine Safety and Inspection Regulations 1995 (the Regulations).
The Act provides for the appointment of Boards of Examiners to examine the qualifications and experience of applicants for certificates of competency. The Regulations provide for each board to “examine the applicant in writing or orally, or both, as it thinks fit, or to appoint examiners to conduct such examinations”.
There are a number of Boards of Examiners constituted under the legislation. This proposal focuses on the examinations conducted by the First Class Mine Manager’s / Underground Supervisor’s Board and the Quarry Manager’s / Restricted Quarry Manager’s Board.
