WA Department of Transport
Container Shipping Fleet Study for Fremantle Inner and Outer Harbours
Details
Description
The purpose of this study is to provide detailed advice on the likely composition of the container fleet servicing Perth and the other Australian ports over the next 50 years, under a range of hypothetical development scenarios at the Outer Harbour and the other Australian container ports. It is a priority of the Westport Project that Western Australia will be able to accommodate ship sizes used in other major Australian container ports.
It is expected that this study will deliver a comprehensive assessment of Australian as well as global shipping and container port trends, to enable sound decisions on the required timing of a new port, and the infrastructure required to accommodate the vessels that are likely to visit both a new Outer Harbour at Kwinana and the Inner Harbour at Fremantle.
