Australian Fisheries Management Authority
Provision of fish ageing and length frequency services in the SESSF
Details
Description
AFMA is seeking a suitable party to undertake analysis and storage of otoliths/vertebrae and length-frequency data for SESSF priority species. The continued ageing of otoliths/vertebrae and associated analysis of length-frequency data from priority fish species contributes to the time-series of data held for the fishery and further improves assessment in the SESSF. Improved assessment provides for a more detailed understanding of the dynamics and status of fish stocks, thus enabling AFMA to meet its management objectives. Applicants are referred to the project scope below for more detailed information on the requirements sought by AFMA.
AFMA wishes to enter into a five year agreement to undertake fish ageing and length frequency services in the SESSF commencing on 1 July 2009 and concluding on 30 June 2014 with a draft end of financial year report due by 30 April and final report due by 15 June each year. A milestone report providing an update on collections and ageing will be required by 31 January each year. It is a requirement that all raw data be sent to nominated analysts for stock assessment purposes by 31 May each year. A final integrated report covering all years in the term of the contract will be required by 30 June 2014.
