Development of a Sub-regional scale numerical groundwater model of the; lower Robe; lower Fortescue; lower Yule; and lower De Grey River aquifers.

The aquifers in the lower Robe, lower Fortescue, lower Yule, and lower De Grey Rivers are a significant potential source of water that may be in demand to meet the needs of the burgeoning community and the growth of industries in the Pilbara.

A subregional scale numerical groundwater model of each of the lower Robe, lower Fortescue, lower Yule and lower De Grey River aquifers is required to support regional water management objectives in each area. The models will assess the current conceptual hydrogeology of the aquifer system, define recharge and discharge mechanisms, assess impacts from abstraction and climate variations on groundwater levels, and provide estimates of acceptable yield under a variety of developmental and climatic scenarios. The models also will be used to support regional ecological water requirements studies and the determination of water allocations.
The work is expected to take a total of 22 weeks to complete all four (4) models and culminating in deliverables such as four separate working models and four separate final reports.

The Department reserves the right to award the whole contract to a single supplier or to multiple suppliers.
