Mouse surveillance and monitoring to inform leading practice
Details
Description
This opportunity allows applicants to apply for one or both of the following components:
1 Outputs 1 & 2: Focus on enhancing mouse surveillance and management through the maintenance and expansion of the existing monitoring network and predictive models. This component includes using traditional monitoring methods and collaborating closely with the National Mouse Group to ensure strategies are well-aligned with grower needs and current research insights.
2 Outputs 3 & 4: Aimed at developing automated mouse monitoring devices to supplement existing surveillance efforts. These devices will undergo field testing alongside traditional methods and be integrated with established spatial models. A feasibility study will explore potential pathways for commercialisation of these tools.
Collaboration Requirements
Applicants focusing exclusively on Outputs 3 & 4 must collaborate with the party delivering Outputs 1 & 2, and vice versa. This collaboration ensures that the automated devices receive necessary field validation in concert with existing monitoring practices, enabling their seamless integration into the established system. Such partnerships are critical for validating these innovations as effective research tools prior to any potential commercial deployment. When preparing proposals, applicants are encouraged to consider the integration requirements and collaborative nature of this project.
