EOI Testing, evaluation, and commercialisation of Macadamia varieties

The Queensland Government through the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is seeking expressions of interest to identify one or more commercial partners who can import, test, evaluate, protect and commercialise the improved macadamia nut varieties on behalf of the Queensland State Government Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) and Horticulture Innovation Australia.

The objectives for this EOI are to identify suitable commercial partners to:

• import material for the purpose of establishing Plant Breeders Rights trials (or Plant Variety Rights or Plant Patents, depending on the jurisdiction) to protect the intellectual property in the improved macadamia nut varieties
• obtain necessary protections for the improved macadamia nut varieties in selected territories
• evaluate the varieties for commercial potential in selected territories
• commercialise and manage the improved macadamia nut varieties in selected territories
• support research and development collaborations between the Australia and selected territories.
