WA Department of Mines and Petroleum
Provision of Specialised Psychosocial Training for the Department of Mines and Petroleum
Details
Description
There is an increasing requirement upon Department of Mines and Petroleum to investigate complaints of alleged bullying in the resources industry.
A training need has been recognised to allow the regulator to establish a core of skilled and competent staff to deal with more complex bullying complaints and those that may require an enforcement response.
The training need is not confined to psychological skills in dealing with bullying matters. Regulators have a legislated role to determine if a breach of legislation has occurred and to take appropriate action.
The outcomes sought are:
• to reduce the regulatory load by improving handling of serious and/or complex complaints; and
• to improve the likelihood of successful enforcement (when deemed necessary) by better targeting of resources.
