Catfish Billabong (also referred to as Catfish Lagoon) is a 65-hectare wetland occurring within Merbein Common Flagship Waterway Site. The custodians and Traditional Owners of the country are the First People of Millewa Mallee with Statutory land management activities controlled by Parks Victoria. Catfish Billabong has been identified by the Mallee Waterway Management Strategy (MWMS) as a priority for management based on the high environmental, social, and cultural heritage values it supports.
The Mallee Catchment Management Authority requires the services of suitably qualified Contractor for the Design and Construction of the Catfish Billabong Environmental Regulator and Water Retaining Structure, with submission of an Operation and Maintenance Manual (inclusive As Constructed drawings), indicative location as described in Figure 1 of the Invitation to Supply. The Project requires completion of design, construction and commissioning and handover by 16 May 2022. This project is subject to statutory planning approvals being obtained by the Mallee Catchment Management Authority. Notification of statutory planning approval is due to the Mallee CMA by 30 September 2021.
