Description

Queensland’s fixed wing aeromedical network provides for safe, timely and coordinated inter-facility transfer of patients to and between Queensland hospital facilities, facilitating equitable access to specialist medical Treatment for people living in rural and remote Queensland. These services also allow the Eligible Customer to provide pre-hospital care whilst transferring patients to facilities for definitive or higher levels of care.
All patient transport movements for Hospital and Health Services (HHSs) and Queensland non-public health facilities are coordinated by Retrieval Services Queensland (RSQ). Patient Retrievals and transfers are prioritised across the platform of contracted aeromedical services.

The selection of an Aircraft for Long Distance aeromedical transport is critical in achieving operational efficiencies. The operational considerations include Patient care, and network availability.
An open market Request for Offer (RFO) to establish a Standing Offer Arrangement for a two tiered panel will provide more access to available Aircraft, and ensure departmental standards for aeromedical services are met.
