Request for Application for Appointment as a Written Off Vehicle Examiner (WOVE) to Perform Examinations and Provide Reports on Repairable Write-Off Vehicles Registered on the Written Off Vehicle Regi

The Department of Transport is inviting Applications from appropriately qualified motor vehicle body repairers (Businesses), with established service locations in the Perth Metropolitan Area and Regional Western Australia, and who employs employees who are suitably qualified individuals (personnel) to be appointed as a Written-Off Vehicle Examiners (WOVE) to examine and report on Repairable Write-Off Vehicles that are listed on the Written-Off Vehicle Register (WOVR), that they have not themselves repaired. The WOVE will perform critical structural examinations on repairable write off vehicles and provide suitable reports to be used by others when assessing whether the vehicle has been repaired to the standards referred to in the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Act 2012. It is expected that the Applicant (Business) demonstrate that it has all the necessary requirements to enable its personnel to undertake the functions of WOVE and that Applicant will allow the Department to verify this from time to time by undertaking an audit including on site, or by requesting information.

The WOVE will report on whether the repairs to structural integrity, electrical systems and welds are compliant with best practice and meet industry standards of workmanship. The WOVE will conduct their examinations and provide reports, prior to a final identity and roadworthiness examination being carried out by an Approved Vehicle Examiners at an Authorised Inspection Station (AIS) or by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DoT.

A minimum of one WOVE will need to be appointed at each service location to carry out the examinations. More than one WOVE may be appointed at each service location at the discretion of the Department.

The Department intends to appoint WOVEs in Perth Metropolitan and Regional WA areas.
