Australian Taxation Office
ATO Digital Services Modernisation Program.
Details
Description
The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is the principal revenue collection agency of the Australian Government. Our role is to effectively manage and shape the tax and superannuation systems that support and fund services for Australians. We aim to be a leading tax and superannuation administration, known for our contemporary service, expertise and integrity.
Ongoing transformation is therefore critical to the ATO’s success. This means the ATO is changing the way it works to deliver the best possible experience with the tax and super systems for clients, staff and partners by:
making it easy for people to participate by minimising red tape, as well as making information easier to find and understand;
providing contemporary, tailored services, which keep pace with technology and allows the ATO to work with other government agencies for a simplified and improved experience;
building client relationships by giving the right advice at the right time, and letting people know quickly when the ATO notices something isn't right and helping to resolve it; and
fostering community confidence in the integrity of the tax and super systems by addressing non-compliance to ensure fairness.
This strategic direction is underpinned by evolution of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) capabilities. The revenue system needs to be highly interoperable, enabling market and government-driven innovation. The ATO will engage and work constructively with those who help deliver reliable and contemporary technology and digital services, ensuring that IT providers, outsourced functions, digital service providers and other suppliers are all working with the ATO to achieve operational excellence and efficiency.
