Australian Government Department of Parliamentary Services
Chamber Audio Upgrade
Details
Description
DPS is seeking a replacement Chamber Audio Control and Distribution System (CACD) for the Senate and House of Representatives (HoR) Chambers located within Australian Parliament House. The original Chamber systems were installed when the building was constructed in 1988. This provided uninterrupted service to Parliament until it was replaced in 2004. This system is now over 20 years old and is end-of-life.
Both the Senate and HoR have a Local Control Room (LCR) that houses audio and video equipment for DPS and Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). These systems provide audio for Chamber sound reinforcement, recording for transcription / archives, and broadcast. These services are broadcast within parliament house over an internal House Monitoring System (TV, Radio and streaming) and externally to national television and radio networks.
