UQ AIBN - NISTC Business Plan
Details
Description
The University of Queensland (UQ) seeks offers for the Development of an operational Business Plan for the Establishment and Framework of the activities of the National Indigenous Science Translation Centre (NISTC).
Further information will be provided once the attached COI (NISTC-CDA) has been signed and sent to Lorine Wilkson ([email hidden]).
The NISTC is a joint initiative of the UQ, Bulugudu Ltd and Indjalandji-Dhidhanu PBC, both non-profit enterprises owned by the Indjalandji-Dhidhanu people. Currently, the NISTC is an unincorporated joint-venture, and intends to be established as a limited company early 2024.
The aim of the NISTC is to create economic opportunities for Indigenous Australians.
- To apply and integrate the processes of innovation, investment, and commercialisation to indigenous knowledge.
- To create a centralised Indigenous innovation hub, with nodes across Australia, where Indigenous knowledge holders can translate knowledge into modern products.
- To train a cohort of future entrepreneurial indigenous leaders.
- To be the interface between industry and the indigenous community
- To establish a myriad of indigenous owned SME’s empowering the Indigenous community bringing life back into regional Australia and diversifying the Australian industry.
- To position Australia as the world leader in Indigenous business development.
And to develop Stem pathways for Young Indigenous Scholars into the University System.
The NISTC will be led by the Indigenous community and will create a safe environment supportive of the needs of Indigenous scientists and entrepreneurs. The NISTC will bring together all stakeholders of Australia; the community, industry, and government and will empower modern manufacturing and innovation using ancient knowledge unique to Australia. Initial establishment of the NISTC will be within a dedicated building within the University of Queensland (UQ) with the intent that this model will in time be rolled out across Australia.
